Comprised of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot, the 2016 Proprietary Red Mockingbird Blue has a deep garnet-purple color and spills sensuously out of the glass with seductive notes of blackcurrant cordial, blueberry pie, fruitcake and licorice with suggestions of molten chocolate, spearmint, hoisin and Chinese five spice. Big, rich, full-bodied and decadently spicy in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy frame and a very long, layered finish. SP30-2

Dark cherry with scarlet red highlights. Complex aromas of black raspberry, milk chocolate, and soft hints of sweet cedar. Bold flavors of boysenberry pie, sugar cookie, and toffee lead to subtle notes of strawberry jam and baking spice. The balanced and complex tannin structure creates a long-lasting enjoyable finish. Pairs well with tri-tip crostini, pork ribs with mashed potatoes, or pasta with a bolognese sauce.

  • Caparzo 2013 Brunello di Montalcino

    $49.99

    Tuscany Italy
    Wine Spectator 95 Rating
This cuts more of a broad swath than its peers, yet remains graceful, evoking strawberry, cherry, tobacco and stony mineral flavors. Long and dense in structure, with a tobacco- and underbrush-tinged finish. Best from 2021 through 2033. R5-1

  • Chapelle St. Theodoric 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Guigasse

    $99.99

    Southern Rhone Valley France
    Wine Advocate 95-97 Rating
Scents of roses, garrigue and blackberries mark the nose of the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape La Guigasse, still aging in demi-muids at the time of my visit. It's one of those special wines that manages to be full-bodied and concentrated, yet also pillowy-soft, nearly ethereal in the mouth. A bit more tannic and stern on the finish than the 2020 Le Grand Pin, it finishes long, with a lingering note of licorice. 100% Grenache. R18-4
