A bright red color, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino is floral and aromatic of preserved strawberries, baby powder, and herbes de Provence. Medium-bodied, it has refined ripe tannins, even acidity, and a clean, stony textured finish. A lovely and charming wine, it’s drinking well now and will drink well over the coming 8-10 years.

The nose is delicious if more focused on Tuscan red cherries, strawberries and elderberries with a hint of sweet plums. The palate is fresh but with a good core of density. It pours a bright silver straw hue and is fresh on opening, with a floral perfume of white flowers, fresh pear, and fresh almond. Medium-bodied, it’s attractive and approachable, with juicy peach fruit that fills the palate, although it stays refined, with a pinpoint mousse and a clean finish. It is a lovely entry to the range to enjoy now or over the next 6-8 years, and I love this as an aperitif style. 8 grams per liter of dosage.
