Herman Story Wines 2020 Casual Encounters
$59.99 – $330.00Paso Robles California
Inkier colored, the Casual encounters is a blend of 58% Mourvèdre, 34% Syrah, and 8% Grenache. Lots of mulled black fruits, smoked meat, barbecue, and peppery notes emerge from the glass. It’s full-bodied, super-rich, and concentrated, yet still stays light on its feet and beautifully balanced. It’s a classic, sweetly fruited, sexy wine to enjoy over the coming 5-7 years or so. R2-3

Herman Story Wines 2020 First Time Caller
$59.99 – $330.00Paso Robles California
Antonio Galloni 94 Rating
Inky black-purple in the glass, the wine is totally opaque, thickly coating the glass. All about massive opulence and pleasure-giving fruit, this bodacious 15.9% ABV Petite Sirah is dark as night in the glass. Layered and substantially more complex than it initially seems, there is real structural definition underneath the hedonism. A line of energy and a framework of fine tannins supports the array of blackberry, black cherry, coffee, dark chocolate, black pepper and smoke notes. Pair with spicy ribs or grilled ribeye, by itself or even a cigar. A seriously cool wine of great impact! R3-2 SP16-6

Aromas of violet, iris, baking spice and woodland berries form the enticing nose. It’s full-bodied and firmly structured, featuring crushed raspberry, ripe Morello cherry, licorice and tobacco alongside tightly knit, close-grained tannins and surprising acidity for the scorching vintage. Drink 2025-2032. R19-2 -
Janzen 2016 Cloudy’s Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
$159.99Napa Valley California
Jeb Dunnuck 95 Rating
From a site not far from the Hourglass Vineyard, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Janzen Cloudy’s Vineyard is upfront and charming, with full-bodied notes of macerated black cherries, cedarwood, chocolate, and licorice. It’s a mouthfilling, sexy, opulent wine that grows with time in the glass, has solid mid-palate depth, building tannins, and a great finish. Drink it any time over the coming 15-20 years. R41-1 -
Produttori 2013 Barbaresco Paje Riserva
$89.99Piedmont Italy
Wine Enthusiast 97 Rating
Forest berry, chopped mint, clove and new leather aromas take center stage on this elegant, full-bodied red. The savory, smooth palate doles out succulent red cherry, raspberry compote and licorice while vibrant acidity and tightly knit, refined tannins provide balance and support. It has great energy and is loaded with flavor but will be even better with a few more years aging. R42-1 *Cellar Selection* -
DeLille Cellars 2019 Chaleur Blanc
$34.99Columbia Valley Washington State
Jeb Dunnuck 94 Rating
One of the best Bordeaux Blanc blends coming out of Washington, the 2019 Chaleur Blanc checks in as 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon that was barrel fermented and aged in 60% new oak. Honeyed grapefruit, white flowers, sappy, green herbs, and a kiss of minerality all define the bouquet, and this beauty is medium-bodied, with a beautifully balanced, concentrated mouthfeel and a great finish. It ranks with the top examples of this cuvée I've tasted. R21-1 -
Mauritson 2017 Zinfandel
$39.99Dry Creek Valley California
Wine Enthusiast 93 Rating
Editors' Choice Award
The producer's only non-estate wine, this hails from some tremendous grower sites, including Faloni, Buchignani and Montecillo. It excels in thick tannins and black pepper, leather and black currant. It offers plenty of structure and intensity, with balanced ripeness and a lasting taste of sweet oak. SP14-5 -
Massolino 2016 Barolo
$64.99Piedmont Italy
Wine Spectator 95 Rating
A stream of pure, juicy cherry fruit is at the heart of this red, along with mineral, tobacco and wild herb notes. Firm and tightly wound, with a matrix of dense, refined tannins for support. All the elements are in the right proportions, this just needs time. SP49-5
