Just bottled, the 100% varietal 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon has a juicy, fruit-forward, delicious style as well as notes of ripe black cherries, tobacco, and leafy herbs. With plenty of fruit, ripe tannins, and loads to love, drink it over the coming 5-7 years.

Bouchaine Estate Vineyard 2020 Chardonnay
$34.99 – $324.00Carneros California
This vintage produced a beautiful, pale golden wine. Crisp Macintosh apple, limoncello, and pear fruit notes form the central fruit core. These are followed by a touch of vanilla, ginger and butterscotch – a perfect marriage of bright acidity with rich flavor. The hallmark Bouchaine sueded texture persists in a longlasting finish.

Here too the wood treatment is reasonably subtle and easily allows the ultra-spicy aromas of cassis, plum and Asian-style tea to be appreciated. The suave, mouth coating and wonderfully seductive medium weight flavors possess exceptionally good richness while delivering excellent depth and length on the impeccably well-balanced finish. -

Wine Spectator 93 Rating
Silky and exuding violet, blackberry and black currant, this red is about as alluring as a young Burgundy gets. It firms up on the finish with refined, cocoa powder tannins. Vibrant and long too. Drink now through 2028. SP4-12 -
Bouchard Pere & Fils 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Du Chateau
$49.99 – $240.00Beaune Burgundy France
Decanter Magazine 91 Rating
A blend of 17 Beaune Premier Crus which has been exclusively produced at Bouchard since 1907. Bouchard owns 26ha, largely on pebbly/marly limestone. 12-14 months in oak with 25-35% new. Fred Weber stressed how healthy the grapes were in 2019. Vibrant redcurrant/raspberry fruit, an abundance of elegance here despite fruit ripeness and alcohol weighing in at 14.5%. Concentrated, supple and fine tannins, restrained, almost unnoticeable, oak. Weber likens the 2019 vintage to 1949. R1-4

Bouchard owns over two hectares of this climat, and the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Teurons was the first parcel of Pinot Noir harvested in this vintage. Mingling aromas of sweet berries and cassis with hints of peonies, raw cocoa and loamy soil, it’s medium-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with bright acids and a nicely defined finish. This is another of the portfolio’s sleepers.

This is very structured and shows layers of fruit and phenolics that give the wine tension and focus. Full-bodied, firm and rich with wonderful length and intensity. Lots of dried apple, vanilla bean and cream. Flavorful finish. Drink now.
